What a fabulous way to celebrate the first day of a New Year!
On January 1st we gathered at Lac du Bonnet Legion Branch #164 to celebrate the start of a New Year with good friends, food and the ever talked about Moose Milk. Warm welcomes were given to all by the past and present Legion Executive as they shook hands and gave hugs upon entering the Legion. Right from the start, you knew you were in for a wonderful afternoon of sitting back and relaxing, talking to friends, meeting new people and enjoying the company of community.
The Legion offered free refreshments and an old aged tradition of serving Clam Chowder and Moose Milk. A variety of stories emerged when asked about this tradition. Perhaps it was the Moose Milk blurring our thoughts, but no one really seemed to mind that no real answer could be produced. Regardless of its origins, the tradition lives on only because of the efforts of our Legion members. It served as an affirmation that it doesn’t matter what we do to celebrate and honour the past, only that we do it and introduce new generations to the these old traditions.
You may have missed the New Year’s Day Levee this year, but it’s an annual event. So, if you want to immerse yourself in some good old traditions, or find out what the heck Moose Milk is, you’ll have to come to the Legion on January 1, 2018.
Many thanks to the Legion members who put this event together and the RM100 Committee for sponsoring the Moose Milk.
