About Boreal Workshop
Tansi, Boozhoo, hello! My name is Tanis Thomas, I am the founder of Boreal Workshop, and I am an Anishinaabe Maskéko Métis Kwe from Ochekwi Sipi Cree Nation. My business is Boreal Workshop, an indigenous family business that designs and hand-makes fine jewellery and functional art objects. We work in copper, silver, and gold, and we also source and cut or facet our own gemstones.
Our designs reflect our love for the natural world, and we strive to reflect our appreciation for the Arts & Craft movement as well as traditional and contemporary arts influences and production methods in each piece we produce. We hand-make earrings, cuffs, rings, pendants, and we also love making hand-raised vessels and custom regalia.
Most recently, we have become engaged in research to inform our design, work, and collaboration with fellow artists. We are in the process of developing a cultural education-based interpretive tour in support of the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive trail (Debwendon); this is part of our business philosophy of doing things in a good way and supporting good initiatives.
Connect with Boreal Workshop on their website, Facebook, and Instagram today!
About MyLdB
MyLdB will also be at the Market selling our Lac du Bonnet Merch! Show off your community pride in style and comfort with one (or more!) of our branded t-shirts, baseball tees, or hoodies. All proceeds from the merch sales go towards funding community projects and initiatives right here in Lac du Bonnet! Plus, if you’re looking for things to do in Lac du Bonnet, the MyLdB team will be able to answer almost any question you may have!
About the Old Hickory Waterside Markets
The LdB CDC, Old Hickory Buildings, the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet, and the Manitoba Made Store have come together with a vision of bringing LdB a new pop-up market series. This year, we want to test the theory with a handful of markets before the snow falls, with plans to make 2023 even bigger and amazing. Our goals for 2022 and future years are to help promote smaller businesses and artists/artisans and create another unique shopping experience in Lac du Bonnet!
A big thank you goes out to Old Hickory Buildings, who donated two buildings for vendors to use during the Market. Building One is 7’ x 11’, or 77 square feet, and Building Two measures 9’ x 15’, or 135 square feet.
If you’re interested in becoming a vendor, visit the Lac du Bonnet CDC’s website for more information and to register.
Don't be shy, share this Lac du Bonnet destination with your friends!
