The Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby is a yearly event that occurs on the last Saturday of February. This is a family-friendly event where the size of fish caught doesn’t matter! As one of Manitoba’s hidden length and time derbies, all you have to do is catch a fish for the chance to win 1 of 10 cash prizes, with first-place taking home $10,000! In fact, you don’t even have to catch a fish to walk home with some amazing prizes.
Along with $20,000 in cash prizes, anglers will walk away with over $35,000 in random prize draws.
Always fun and full of surprises, the LdB Ice Fishing Derby is a great way to get out and enjoy one of Manitoba’s favourite winter pass-times. Master Anglers, professional fishers, fishing enthusiasts, and families alike all have a great time out on the ice. Heck, with an average of 114 fish caught every year, and a record-breaking 173 fish in 2019, we think it’s safe to say that even the fish have fun at the LdB Ice Fishing Derby.
The Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby is a Non-profit Organization raising funds for community groups in Lac du Bonnet and surrounding areas through a fun, family-oriented event that promotes Lac du Bonnet as a four-season playground. To date, the amazing group of community volunteers has injected over $170,000 back into the community through funds raised by hosting this event.
